Peter Schiff Warns of Impending Financial Crisis Amid Rising Inflation
Economist Peter Schiff has issued a stark warning that the United States is barreling toward a "full-blown financial crisis." Inflation remains a persistent burden, with February import prices jumping 1.3% and export prices climbing 1.5%, translating to annualized rates of 16.8%–19.6%. These figures exclude the recent 50% surge in oil prices.
Schiff urged the Federal Reserve to aggressively hike interest rates by several hundred basis points to curb inflationary pressures. "Unless the Fed acts now, inflation will skyrocket," he emphasized. His comments come as even traditional safe havens like gold and silver have faltered in recent weeks.
The Euro Pacific Capital analyst pinned blame on excessive deficit spending by the Trump administration and Congress, coupled with an "overly accommodative Fed" that capitulated to political pressure for lower rates. "Higher inflation is here to stay," Schiff declared, dismissing White House claims of temporary price surges.
